Turner v. Clayton Meeting Planned Tuesday Afternoon

The discussion is expected to primarily involve the scheduling of future meetings and a trial about the case, officials said.

Parties in the Jane Turner v. court case are expected to be back in court Tuesday afternoon.

Elkin Kistner, an attorney representing Jane Turner and the other parents in the case, said it will be up to Judge David Vincent to decide whether the meeting is closed to the public. He said he is hoping to get a schedule for a later trial out of the discussion.

It's likely the meeting will not be open to the public and probably will involve getting dates on the calendar for future conferences about the court case, said Chris Tennill, chief communications officer for the Clayton school district. He said he expected to have more details about the discussion late Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

The Missouri Supreme Court in July issued an opinion in the case stating that students from unaccredited districts can choose to attend any accredited district in the same or adjoining county. Furthermore, the court contends that the accepting district has no discretion in the matter. The case and all issues that evolved from the Supreme Court ruling are now in the hands of the St. Louis County court.

The meeting, identified on the website Missouri Case.net as a settlement conference, is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. in Division 9 of the in Clayton.
