Solar Input: Clayton Seeks Comments on Renewable Energy Regs

Plan Commission will conduct a public hearing on proposed regulations make solar and wind energy systems permitted uses.

The city’s Plan Commission and Architectural Review Board last spring directed staff to draft zoning regulations to govern the installation and use of renewable energy systems such as solar panels and wind turbines.

If adopted, the regulations would classify solar and wind systems as permitted accessory uses subject to city approval.

The Plan Commission will conduct a public hearing on adopting the regulations at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at city hall. The commission is seeking comments on the regulations from residents, business owners and design and industry professionals.
