Richmond Heights Reveals 100th Birthday Logo Options

The wants residents to share their thoughts on three possible logos commemorating its 100th birthday in 2013.

Starting Tuesday morning, the logos will be displayed in the lobby of City Hall, 1330 S. Big Bend Blvd. People who want to weigh in can request a sticker to place next to the design of their choice. Attendees of on Saturday will be able to do the same from 4 to 10 p.m. at community center.

St. Louis marketing agency Twist designed the logos at a cost of $4,000, city communications coordinator Irene Johnson said. Funds were allocated as part of the city's centennial celebration.

Several groups of people already have reviewed the designs:

• Richmond Heights City Council members
• Richmond Heights department directors
• Richmond Heights city employees
• Richmond Heights Citizens Centennial Committee

Feedback collected through Saturday will be compiled early next week and presented to City Manager Amy Hamilton for dissemination to the council.

A final design will be selected no later than Sept. 17 so that the city can begin ordering materials featuring the logo by Oct. 1. Items bearing the new logo will include street signs, city letterhead, select vehicles, the Richmond Heights website and staff T-shirts.

Street signs with words announcing the centennial will be posted during 2013, Johnson said. At the end of the centennial, similar signs without that language will be posted.

A kickoff event for the Richmond Heights centennial is planned this December.
