Richmond Heights Reopens Negotiations on Hotel Project

City officials will renegotiate terms of a hotel and parking garage project with Mullenix, which plans to build a hotel and parking garage at the Clayton Road-Brentwood Boulevard intersection.

During the Richmond Heights meeting on Monday, city council members unanimously approved a resolution allowing city officials to renegotiate terms with Mullenix-Richmond Heights Redevelopment Corp.

The developer plans to build another parking garage and hotel on the southeast corner of 2.54 acres at the southeast corner of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton Road.

“This allows us to negotiate the major business points of the project,” said City Manager Amy Hamilton. “Then, we’ll bring it back to the city council, and if they give their approval then we’ll formally put the time frame out there.”

She said the negotiations would totally rework the construction project’s time frame.

Originally, the agreement called for Mullenix to begin on the hotel by Dec. 31, but officials from the company said they would not be able to meet that deadline.
