Richmond Heights Council to Decide on Mullenix Resolution

Resolution would allow city to renegotiate hotel project timetable with the developer.

The Richmond Heights City Council meeting Monday figures to be a short one, with few items on the agenda.

The council has one resolution on the ballot regarding a development agreement with . The developer plans to build another parking garage and hotel on the southeast corner of 2.54 acres at the southeast corner of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton Road.

“They’re asking for an extension,” said City Manager Amy Hamilton. “We wanted to give them adequate time. The deadline to begin on the hotel is Dec. 31, and they notified us they will not be able to meet that deadline. Obviously, since they haven’t started yet they’re not going to meet that deadline.”

The developers plan to build a second hotel and a parking garage at the site. The first hotel, , has a shared parking agreement with , but there won't be adequate parking once the second hotel is added, Hamilton said.

The garage would be located on Homewood Suites' surface parking lot.

The city will renegotiate what will happen and when with the developers, Hamilton said. On Nov. 21, the council with Mullenix.

The city council meeting is at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 1330 S. Big Bend Blvd. A complete agenda is available on the city of Richmond Heights website.

The only other items listed the agenda are liquor license requests by the Black Finn American Grill and the Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina restaurant. Both restaurants are in the St. Louis Galleria.
