The city announced the partnership Wednesday in a news release.

will host Old Newsboys Day volunteers Nov. 17 as they work to raise money for children's charities. The city announced the partnership Wednesday in a news release.

“We are thrilled with the arrangement we have made with this amazing organization and look forward to the effect newspaper sales in Clayton will have on the overall contribution to charities,” Mayor Linda Goldstein stated in the release.

Old Newsboys representatives and the city met recently to develop a plan for the event, which will happen along some of the city's sidewalks. The volunteers sell copies of a newspaper that is written by high school students and documents charities that receive funding from Old Newsboys, according to the website of the Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis, which oversees the initiative.

Thousands of volunteers are expected to participate in the effort, which to date has raised more than $11 million, the release states.
