Obama Names Clayton Student Bernstein in Schools Speech

student Jake Bernstein and his sister, Simone, got a nod from President Barack Obama in a speech delivered Wednesday.

"There is a young man, Jake Bernstein, 17 years old, from a military family in St. Louis, worked with his sister to launch a website devoted to community service for young people," Obama said, according to a transcript posted to the White House website. "And they’ve held volunteer fairs and put up an online database, and helped thousands of families to find volunteer opportunities ranging from maintaining nature trails to serving at local hospitals."

Obama spoke at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday afternoon. The website, stlouisvolunteen.com, helps young people find volunteer opportunities.
