January 2013 is Richmond Heights Historical Society Month

The mayor made the declaration at Monday's city council meeting.

The Richmond Heights Historical Society was honored at the city council meeting on Monday, by having January 2013 designated “Richmond Heights Historical Society Preservation Month."

Resident and city employee Evelyn D. Grant worked with local attorney Richard Ulrich to incorporate The Richmond Heights Historical Society in 1982.

A resolution read by Mayor James Beck stated that Grant collected artifacts, photos, journals and personal histories, which became the foundation of today’s Historical Society’s collections.

Archivist Joellen McDonald now cares for the collection.

Beck's resolution urged "all citizens to reflect on and honor those individuals who dedicate their efforts to promote local pride in their community and whose hard work is evidenced as they continue to gather the abundant history of our community so that others many enjoy it well into the future."
