Emergency Preparedness Tips Posted to Richmond Heights Site

The information about tornadoes and earthquakes is available through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Tips about preparing for tornadoes and earthquakes are now accessible to Richmond Heights families on the city's website.

The two documents with tips were shared by Chief Kerry Hogan of the and posted to the city's website this week. The information is a service of the Ready in 3 program created by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Both types of emergency have been a subject of conversation recently in the St. Louis area. in North County, and numerous students recently with a drill.

Among the safety recommendations shared in the tip sheets:

Tornadoes

  • If you are driving during a storm, travel away from the tornado when possible.
  • Check with your work and children's school about their emergency plans.
  • Conduct periodic drills with your family.

Earthquakes

  • Identify safe spots in rooms throughout your house.
  • Prepare an emergency kit.
  • Stay inside until shaking has stopped.
