Haddington Park Would Be Clayton's Newest Open Space

The facility would host a dog park for residents just north of the Saint Louis Galleria.

Haddington Park has been proposed as the name of 's newest open space. The area just north of the would include a dog park for residents.

Members of the Clayton Parks and Recreation Commission came up with the name as part of their Monday meeting, Ward 1 Alderman Andrea Maddox-Dallas announced this week. Maddox-Dallas is an aldermanic liaison to the commission.

The suggestion corresponds with the location of the park on Haddington Court. Land became available after . The city already has 10 parks:

Fundraising for the dog park portion of the facility continues, minutes from the parks commission's August meeting state. The , a nonprofit acquiring funds for civic projects in light of the city's 2013 centennial, has raised $22,000 toward the project so far. A goal of $75,000 has been set.

A list of dog-park supporters at the time included the names of 160 families, and grants from Petco and Purina were being sought.

Clayton aldermen will review the park-naming proposal at a later date.
