Clayton Road-Brentwood Boulevard Development Hearing Planned
At issue are several acres of land at the southeast corner of the intersection in Richmond Heights.
Development at the intersection of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton Road is among the discussion topics planned Monday by the Richmond Heights City Council.
At issue is whether a Community Improvement District (CID) should be formed for roughly 2.54 acres at the southeast corner of the intersection, a notice from the City of Richmond Heights states. A public hearing to discuss a CID will happen during the council's 7:30 p.m. meeting at .
Such districts are "organized for the purpose of financing a wide range of public-use facilities and establishing and managing policies and public services related to the needs of the district," the website Missouri Development states.
The council on Nov. 21 with Mullenix Richmond Heights Redevelopment Corporation.
Mullenix is looking to develop the area with a parking garage and hotel. In 2010, the council in the Darstmoor Subdivision to be used for the garage. The garage would be located on what is now the surface parking lot of , City Manager Amy Hamilton said.
The garage is expected to be built next year, Richmond Heights public relations coordinator Irene Johnson said in January.
Contract negotiation between the council and Mullenix happened during a closed session at the November meeting, Hamilton said.
"The project is still the same as far as what is to be built," she said. A hotel has not been named for the development.
