Clayton Names Janet Watson to Direct Finance, Administration

She will assume the role Nov. 21 and has previously worked in University City and Webster Groves.

A former official for University City and Webster Groves  will become 's director of finance and administration beginning in late November, the city announced Wednesday in a news release.

Janet Watson succeeds effective Nov. 21. In her new role, she will oversee the city's finances and give direction for its technology and human resources departments.

“I am excited to bring my experience to the management team of Clayton and look forward to serving this unique community,” Watson stated in the release.

Most recently, Watson served for. She prepared its yearly budget totaling $48 million and implemented financial projections. She served for 11 years as assistant city manager and director of finance and administration in Webster Groves.

Watson holds a master's in public policy administration with an emphasis in local government management from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a bachelor's in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance from Columbia College in Columbia, MO.

“Janet’s extensive background in budget preparation and expertise in directing finances and operations will ensure that Clayton maintains its strong foundation of sound financial management,” Owens stated in the release. “I feel very fortunate to be able to bring Janet’s extensive experience and enthusiasm to our leadership team.”
