Claverach Park Street Repavement Planned in 2013

It's one of several Clayton neighborhoods expected to get street upgrades over the next five years, an official told the city's Board of Aldermen on Tuesday.

A total of $1.2 million is expected to be needed to repave streets in 's Claverach Park neighborhood in 2013, an official told the city's Board of Aldermen on Tuesday night.

The work represents the start of a five-year effort to upgrade pavement in numerous neighborhoods, Clayton civil engineer Steve Meyer said during a presentation.

A bond issue approved in the early 1990s paid for resurfacing throughout the city over a three-year period, he said. Now, many of those streets need to be upgraded again.

The city has secured a $3 million grant, which will contribute to the $7.8 million needed in 2014 to upgrade streets in the following Clayton neighborhoods:

  • Old Town
  • Hanley Place
  • Maryland Terrace
  • Skinker Heights
  • Hi-Pointe
  • DeMun Park
  • Wydown

A total of $9.9 million will be needed for 2015 repavement projects in neighborhoods such as Clayton Gardens.

More information about upcoming streets projects will soon be posted to the city's website.
