Carlson Leads Newman in Cash on Hand in 87th District Race

That's according to information filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

The committee backing Rep. Susan Carlson (D-) for 87th District state representative had slightly more cash on hand at the end of June than the committee for her opponent,  Rep. Stacey Newman (D-).

That's according to reports filed this month with the Missouri Ethics Commission. The district is composed of Clayton and parts of Richmond Heights, University City and Ladue.

Friends of Susan Carlson had about $46,000 on hand as of July 15, as compared to the $42,000 held by the group Stacey Newman for State Representative.

Other highlights from the reports:

  • Carlson received nearly $40,000 in monetary contributions from April 1 through June 30, while Newman received more than $18,000.
  • Carlson's campaign spent roughly $9,100 during that period; Newman's spent roughly $7,500
  • Major contributors to Carlson's campaign included attorney Thomas Antoniou ($1,000), attorney Thomas Green ($1,000) and Ann Lipton of the real estate company Lipton Group ($1,000).
  • Major contributors to Newman's campaign included Sandy Rothschild & Associates ($2,000), attorney Gregory Fenlon of the St. Louis Lawyers Group ($500) and Susan Mlynarczyk ($500), a CPA.
