Vehicle Thefts in Clayton Don't Appear Connected, Police Say

The most recent incident happened Tuesday on Wydown Boulevard.

Two vehicle thefts reported in the last month in do not appear to be connected, an official said this week.

A vehicle was reported stolen Tuesday from a parking lot in the 6800 block of Wydown Boulevard near , Officer Korey Golcynski of the said. It happened overnight, and no evidence such as shattered glass was left at the scene.

Golcynski said he did not know whether the vehicle had been locked before the theft occurred. Detectives are investigating the case.

A in the 100 block of South Hanley Road, but Golcynski said the two incidents appear to be unrelated. The Wydown theft also appears to be unrelated to several vehicle break-ins reported on two other streets April 20.

Before that, a vehicle theft hadn't been reported for months. The last such incident was reported in early December, when .

Stolen cars also have been found in Clayton. That happened in January, when .

Drivers should keep any valuables out of their vehicles, Golcynski said. He also encouraged Clayton residents to keep their car doors locked, to park in well-lit areas and to know what their vehicle looks like so they can determine if someone has tampered with it.
