Richmond Heights Police Blotter: Man Suspected of Disorderly Conduct After Galleria Store Declines to Pursue Shoplifting Charge

March 8

  • A victim reported that someone fraudulently used his bank card to make a purchase in Utah.
  • A victim reported that her license plates were stolen while her car was parked in the lot of AMC Esquire 7 Theaters, 6706 Clayton Rd.
  • A 48-year-old male was taken into custody in the 7300 block of Dale Avenue on suspicion of disturbing the peace and assaulting a law enforcement officer. Police said he was intoxicated, refused to follow directions and threw things at officers.

March 9

  • A 21-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting , 1550 . He was held pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.
  • A 44-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from the gift shop at , 6420 Clayton Rd.
  • A computer, two TVs, a digital camera, a cellphone and jewelry were stolen from an apartment in the 1000 block of Commodore Drive. The burglar or burglars got into the apartment through an insecure window on the side of the apartment, the victim told police. 

March 10

  • A victim reported that $30 was taken in a vehicle break-in. It happened in the 1100 block of Bellevue Avenue. The vehicle had been parked behind the victim's building.
  • Two male suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's.
  • A victim reported that the window on the driver's door of a vehicle had been shattered while parked at a Metrolink lot, 8001 Galleria Parkway. Nothing had been taken from the vehicle. Police received a similar report about another vehicle that also had been parked in the lot, Sgt. Doug Schaeffler said.
  • Ameren reported that an electric line cut from a property in the 1700 block of Stockard Avenue because of nonpayment had been reconnected. The residence in question appeared to be vacant. An investigation was ongoing.

March 11

  • A gold chain was stolen in the 1200 block of Buck Avenue. The victim told police she suspected that a man who came to read her gas meter was involved.
  • A 26-year-old male was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's.
  • A 21-year-old male was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the 8000 block of Dale Avenue. Police said he also was in possession of marijuana. He was released with a summons in connection with the traffic incident, and the drug case was sent to the city's prosecutor.

March 12

  • A 43-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting , 1105 Saint Louis Galleria.
  • A victim reported that he thought someone might have tried to enter his residence in the 7700 block of Dale Avenue. The victim reported finding a side window ajar. He told police that his dogs might have scared off any intruder.
  • A victim reported being rear-ended at Big Bend Boulevard and Highway 40 by another driver, who then left the scene of the accident.
  • A Dillard's employee told police that her cellphone had been stolen from her purse, which was being kept beneath the register at which she works.
  • A 16-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's. She was released to her mother, and police turned the case over to .
  • A 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. He was released to her mother, and police turned the case over to the St. Louis County Family Court.
  • Two minor females were taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's.  They were turned over to their parents, and police referred the case to St. Louis County Family Court.
  • A 22-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct at the Galleria. It happened after employees told police they had observed the man shoplifting. The store declined to prosecute the man, who was asked to leave the area. The man responded by shouting and swearing, police said, at which point he was arrested.

March 13

  • Multiple Zippo lighters were reported stolen overnight from the kiosk, 2075 Saint Louis Galleria.
  • A 14-year-old female was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at , 2055 Saint Louis Galleria. She was released to her mother, and police turned the case over to the St. Louis County Family Court.
  • Two males, a minor and an adult, were taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's. The minor was released to his mother and the adult was released with a summons.

March 14

  • Burglars unsuccessfully tried to pry open two vaults inside Verizon Wireless, 1030 S. Brentwood Blvd., after getting into the business through a back door.
  • A victim reported that $3 in change was taken overnight from his vehicle, which had been in the 1900 block of Bellevue Avenue.
  • One minor female and an adult female were taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's. The minor was released to her mother and the adult was released with a summons.

March 15

  • A victim reported that her license plates were stolen while her car was in a parking structure at SSM St. Mary's.
  • A victim reported that property was stolen from the back seat of a vehicle. The victim had been eating s, 6734 Clayton Rd. The thief gained access by breaking out a rear passenger window.
  • A victim reported that property was stolen from inside her vehicle, which had been in a parking structure at the Galleria.

March 16

  • An 18-year-old male was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at , 1491 Saint Louis Galleria. He received a summons.

March 17

  • A victim reported that an acquaintance took $400 from her bank account without authorization. A complaint has been filed, and police were looking for the suspect.
  • A 32-year-old female was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting at Dillard's.
  • A 27-year-old male and his father were arrested at a private residence on Lake Forest Drive as police responded to a report of domestic assault. Police said the father interfered with the investigation. Police said they used a Taser on the father after he resisted arrest. Both were being held pending a review by the city's prosecutor.
  • Two males, ages 14 and 16, were arrested in connection with the theft of a Droid cellphone from the Verizon store. Two unidentified minors were thought to have stolen a Droid on display at the store. The two teens were arrested the next day after coming to the store to get the phone's battery charged. The two were turned over to the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center.

March 18

  • A 40-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting , 6600 Clayton Rd. He received a summons and was turned over to another agency that had been seeking his arrest.
  • Two males, ages 19 and 20, were arrested at , 8001 Dale Ave. The two had been using a basketball court when they were told on two occasions to stop swearing. They kept swearing and were asked to leave. When the two refused to leave, police were called to the scene. They received summonses and were released.
  • Three cellphones valued at a total of $1,050 were stolen from a display cabinet at Sprint, 6622 Clayton Rd. An investigation was ongoing.
  • A victim reported $80 being stolen from her wallet, which she left near a display , 2126 Saint Louis Galleria, while trying on clothes.
  • Several electronics were stolen overnight from Life Changing Fellowship Christian Church, 1430 Silverton Pl., the church told police.

March 19

  • Several males in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of assault at the Galleria. Police said they started a fight with three other shoppers. They were being held pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.

March 20

  • A victim reported being assaulted by his boyfriend's brother in the 1700 block of Boneta Avenue. Police were looking for the brother.
  • Footlocker, 2476 Saint Louis Galleria, was burglarized shortly after it closed. The burglar or burglars entered the store by cutting through the metal gate at its entrance.
  • Two male teens took more than $1,650 in merchandise from Macy's and ran to a waiting car. An investigation was ongoing.

March 22

  • A piece of concrete was thrown through the windshield of a car overnight, a victim reported. It had been parked in the 1100 block of Highland Terrace.
  • A duffle bag with personal items was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 1100 block of Yale Avenue, a victim reported.
  • Thieves stole four pairs of Ugg shoes from , 1114 Brentwood Blvd. An investigation was ongoing.
  • A GPS unit was taken from a 2007 Toyota Corolla parked in the 7300 block of Hoover Avenue, a victim reported. The thief or thieves got into the vehicle by breaking a window.
  • A 15-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of stealing and trespassing at The Heights. He Police said he entered the community center without paying the entry fee and refused to leave when asked. He was released to his mother.
