Richmond Heights Police Blotter: Handgun Road Rage

The Richmond Heights Police Department reported the following incidents on its website.

  • Several people apparently tried to break into a house in the 1200 block of Kurt Avenue. They fled when police were called. An investigation was ongoing.


Aug. 2

  • A 25-year-old woman was taken to a St. Louis-area hospital after she accidentally overdosed on the heroin she was sharing with her 22-year-old boyfriend. They were parked in a car , 6600 Clayton Rd., at the time. The boyfriend called police to report the overdose. Police arrested the boyfriend.

  • Two bicycles were stolen from a private carport in the 1100 block of Blendon Place.
  • A 22-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and trespassing in connection with an incident at the , 1155 Saint Louis Galleria. Security officers told her to leave after she acted inappropriately while at the mall. Officials said she refused to leave and cursed at the officers, prompting the arrest. She was being held pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.
  • A 19-year-old male is suspected of having pointed a handgun at another as part of a road rage incident on Interstate 170 at Highway 40. Police were seeking the man.
  • A 2009 VW Passat was stolen from a parking lot at the Galleria. The owner, who had been shopping, realized his keys were gone and went to lot, where he discovered the vehicle had gone missing.
  • Two vehicle break-ins were reported at the Galleria parking garage. One was a 2002 Chevy Cavalier and the other was a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. The owners were in the mall at the time. An investigation was ongoing.
  • An iPhone was stolen from the pocket of a lab coat as it hung in a locker room at , 6420 Clayton Rd., the victim told police. An investigation was ongoing.


Aug. 4

  • A victim told police her 39-year-old husband assaulted her after an argument at a private residence in the 1400 block of Barger Place. He left the residence before police arrived and was being sought for questioning.
  • Two males, ages 20 and 25, and a 17-year-old female were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting , 1550 Saint Louis Galleria. They received summonses and were released.
  • A 48-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault after he started a physical confrontation with several members of a private household in the 1400 block of Collins Avenue. He was being held pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.

  • A victim in the 7400 block of Williams Avenue told police her credit card was used fraudulently to make purchases in Texas and Pennsylvania.
  • A bank deposit bag was stolen , 2493 Saint Louis Galleria, after it was left near a cash register.


Aug. 7

  • A 41-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at , 2011 Saint Louis Galleria. She was being held pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.


Aug. 8

  • A mirror was broken off of a car parked in the lot of Richmond Terrace, 1633 Laclede Station Road, the vehicle's owner told police.
  • A victim in the 1700 block of Beulah Place told police he sent $840 via Western Union to Kingston, Jamaica, after a caller told him he needed to send a small amount of money in order to collect on winnings of $950,000 and a Mercedes Benz. An investigation was ongoing.
  • A person was arrested on suspicion of trying to use a stolen check to purchase computer equipment at the , 2440 Saint Louis Galleria. Police notified the U.S. Secret Service after learning the suspect apparently is connected to a stolen check ring.


Aug. 9

  • A pet owner received a summons on suspicion of animal abuse after a small dog was found locked in her car, which was parked in a lot at the Galleria. Officers at the mall said the animal appeared to be in distress because of extreme heat. A Humane Society investigator took custody of the dog and found that it was 116 degrees Fahrenheit inside the vehicle.


Aug. 11

  • A suspect or suspects used a stolen credit card number to buy more than $5,000 in overseas airfare tickets from Coronet Travel, 1503 S. Big Bend Blvd.
  • An employee is suspected of stealing money from Tiger Town, 111 Saint Louis Galleria, by making fake merchandise returns. An investigation was ongoing.


Aug. 12

  • A 2002 Dodge Ram truck was stolen overnight from a public street in the 7400 block of Rupert Avenue and found three days later in St. Louis City. It had been wrecked.
  • A 53-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at , 1402 S. Hanley Rd. Police said they discovered that nine other St. Louis-area agencies had issued warrants for his arrest. He was being held pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.


Aug. 13

  • A victim told police a ring had been stolen from the room she had rented at , 8040 Clayton Rd. An investigation was ongoing.
  • A $450 telephone was stolen while on display at , 1030 S. Brentwood Blvd. An investigation was ongoing.
  • A 26-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Dillard's, 1105 Saint Louis Galleria. He was released pending a review of the case by the city's prosecutor.


Aug. 14

  • A 14-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting , 1550 Saint Louis Galleria. He was released to his mother.


Aug. 15

  • Three females, ages 15, 23 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy's. The adults received summonses and were turned over to another agency that had been seeking their arrest. The teenager was turned over to juvenile authorities.


Aug. 16

  • A resident told police that he was at home when someone tried to pry open the rear door of his house in the 7400 block of Ethel Avenue. The person ran after being startled by the homeowner. An investigation was ongoing.
