Police: Suspect Tries to Run Down Officer in St. Mary's Garage

The man is suspected of having broken into two vehicles, the Richmond Heights Police Department reported.

A man has been arrested after trying to run down an officer in the parking garage at SSM St. Mary's Health Center, Richmond Heights police said.

The incident happened Monday. It began when the Richmond Heights Police Department received a report of someone trying to break into vehicles in the garage, a blotter entry states.

Officers arrived at the garage and chased the suspect, who was driving a personal vehicle. The vehicle hit several parked cars, police said, and at one point the suspect tried to run down an officer.

The man broke into two cars and moved one of them to a different level of the garage to try to hide the damage he had caused, police said. He was being held pending a warrant application with the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
