Police: Robber Takes Money From Richmond Heights Bank Before Fleeing

A man stole an undisclosed amount of money from a Richmond Heights bank on Thursday afternoon before fleeing the scene, a police sergeant said.

"The suspect came into the bank, went to the teller window, handed the teller a note" demanding money, said Sgt. Doug Schaeffler of the . It happened at U.S. Bank, 1400 S. Big Bend Blvd. He told the teller he had a weapon. The teller handed him the money, and he ran from the bank on foot heading west.

No one was hurt, Schaeffler said. One other customer was in the bank at the time. Schaeffler said he didn't know how many staff members were in the building at the time. The suspect never displayed a weapon, and Schaeffler said he could not disclose the type of weapon that the suspect claimed to have.

The suspect has been identified as a black male in his mid-20s, a news release from the department states. He is between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was seen wearing a McDonald's visor and wore a black, long-sleeved shirt with a white T-shirt underneath it.

Police learned of the robbery after being contacted by the bank.

The bank is offering $25,000 for an arrest and conviction in the case, Schaeffler said.
