One Vehicle Stolen, Another Broken Into on Clayton Street

The incidents happened overnight, and the vehicles appear to have been unlocked at the time, police said.

It's possible a recent vehicle theft and vehicle break-in on the same street in Wydown Forest are connected, Clayton police said.

The incidents appear to have happened late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Edgewood Drive, Community Services Officer Korey Golcynski of the said.

The stolen vehicle had not been recovered as of Thursday and no suspects had been identified, Golcynski said. The case remained under investigation. Neither vehicle appears to have been locked at the time.

Owners of both vehicles did not recall leaving any valuables inside. In the case of the vehicle break-in, there were no signs of forced entry, and nothing appeared to have been taken.

Edgewood Drive is located just east of South Hanley Road off of Wydown Boulevard. It's due south of Forest Park Parkway.

Golcynski advised Clayton residents to take several precautions:

  • Leave valuables out of parked cars
  • Always lock car doors
  • Park in a garage when possible
  • Keep an eye on neighbors' vehicles

A in downtown Clayton happened just blocks away from the Wednesday incidents.
