Motorcyclists Get Help From Richmond Heights Police

Run for the Wall participants came through Wentzville on Monday and Tuesday. They work to raise awareness of Vietnam veterans.

Motorcycle riders participating in Run for the Wall came on Monday and Tuesday.

A large contingent of law enforcement officers, including motorcycle officers from , , the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department and Jackson County, MO, led the riders in and out of town.

Run for the Wall participants travel across the U.S., taking a 10-day route to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The riders arrive in Washington each year on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Along the way, the riders stop at memorials and veterans' organizations on their route.

The riders arrived Monday night at the Wentzville and took off again Tuesday morning after a wreath-laying ceremony at Wentzville's Vietnam Memorial, erected in December 1967.

The memorial sits just outside the 's House 1 and on Pearce Boulevard.

The Fire Protection District's honor guard presented the colors at the ceremony and laid the wreath at the base of the memorial. stood guard on either side of the memorial. The  band performed the national anthem and "My Country 'Tis of Thee."
