Updated: Men Robbed Clayton Couple in Their Apartment Building, Police Say

Jayshone L. Hunt, of St. Louis, was charged with first-degree robbery. Clayton Police said he and another man robbed a couple of their cell phones, wallets and car.

This article was updated at 10:47 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 with new information on the second man in the robbery.

A man is charged with robbing a Clayton couple Aug. 17, taking their cell phones, wallets and car.

Jayshone Lakwonte Hunt, 20, of the 5000 block of Lotus Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Aug. 28 with first-degree robbery.

Clayton Police said that Hunt and another person robbed a couple at about 9:17 p.m. Aug. 17 in their apartment building in the 6300 block of North Rosebury Avenue in Clayton.

One man pulled out a gun and took the couple’s Apple iPhones and wallets. The second man acted as a lookout, then came inside the building and demanded their car keys.

The couple gave them the keys, and the two men took their 2013 Volkswagen, which was recovered in Ferguson later that evening.

Police said when Hunt was arrested, he admitted being with the gunman when he drove to the apartment building, and said he drove the gunman’s car to Wellston after the robbery.

Police still are seeking the second man in the robbery, according to a news release from Clayton Police.

Hunt is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $50,000.
