Man Fleeing Clayton Police Runs into County Police Building

The man was apprehended behind the St. Louis County Police Chief's desk.

A man running from Clayton Police Wednesday thought he could escape by running into a building—unfortunately that building was the St. Louis County Police Headquarters.

St. Louis County Lt. Bryan Ludwig and media relations Officer Randy Vaughn told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch they were discussing a contract in Ludwig's office around 2 p.m. when Ludwig saw a man running in the hallway toward the office area he shares with Chief Tim Fitch and other administrative aides

The man, Joseph H. Meacham, 39, ran into to the chief's office and into a hallway. Ludwig told the Post that Meacham "was curled up in a ball when they found him."
