Gun Discovery Prompts Criminal-History Investigation

Richmond Heights police found the firearm in a car after receiving a report of suspicious circumstances on Clayton Road.

An argument reported last month on Clayton Road has prompted the to investigate possible illegal handgun possession.

It happened April 21. An anonymous caller indicated to police that an argument was happening in a car parked in the 7700 block, Capt. Doug Schaeffler said.

Upon arriving at the scene, police located a handgun inside the car. They arrested a man, 29, in connection with the discovery.

An investigation is underway to determine whether the suspect has a criminal history that would make it illegal for him to carry a handgun, Schaeffler said.
