Dog May Have Foiled Home Burglary

A homeowner's dog may have scared away a potential burglar who broke into a home Apr. 17 on My Road, High Ridge. The deputy who responded to the burglary call reported that he found the front screen door torn but still secure and the rear door frame was broken near the doorknob. There were pry marks on the door frame and a dead bolt lock had not been secured. Nothing was missing from the home which led to speculation that the homeowner's dog scared the burglar away.

A weed eater and golf clubs were reported stolen Apr. 5 on East Lane in South County.

Police arrested an intoxicated driver who passed out in the drive-through of Steak and Shake on First Capitol Drive around 3:20 a.m. April 6. Police arrested the driver for a DWI.

Woman Calls Back her Burglary Victim and Offers to Sell Property Back to Him

A man who told a sheriff's deputy that a Titan Impact paint sprayer had been stolen from his work truck on March 23 on Fieldcrest Drive, also said a woman later called him, saying she had the sprayer and offered to sell it back to him. The sprayer was valued at $917

Crashed, Busted, Arrested and Combative

A St. Louis County man drove off the road April 19 at Oak Berry Court in St. Charles and damaged a sewer before driving off, according to a St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department report.

Sheriff’s deputies said they pulled him over and found he had 48 cold tablets containing pseudoephedrine, an ingredient used to make methamphetamine.

While at the St. Charles County Department of Corrections, the man was coming out of a bathroom when he slugged a handcuffed inmate in the eye. When asked why he struck the inmate, the man said he thought he knew him.

Ultimately the man was charged with possessing chemicals with intent to make meth, leaving the scene of an accident and third-degree assault.

Friday, April 13

Police received a complaint Apr. 13 of five or six juveniles going door-to-door claiming to be “orphans” and asking for money in the 700 block of Garland Place in Warson Woods. The juveniles fled the area prior to police arrival.

Police Called This One Suspicious Circumstances

A woman reported sometime overnight on April 19, that someone moved her stone rabbit statue from next to the front door and placed it in front of the door. She lived on Galt House Drive in St. Charles.

A 54-year-old woman reported someone ran over her plants between 8 p.m. April 20 and 9:57 a.m. April 21. She lives on Shire Lane in St. Charles.

An woman reported her white picket fence was damaged at her home on Saddleridge Drive, St. Charles. She reported the incident April 20.

Apparently Some Heavy Work Needed to be Done

Someone attempted to steal a dump truck at Roto-Rooter on Elm Point Industrial Drive in St. Charles between 2 p.m. April 13 and 6:40 a.m. April 16.

Bunny Grass and a Basket Still Would Have Been Needed

Police arrested a person April 7 on suspicion of shoplifting from on Veterans Memorial Parkway. Among the items stolen: Easter candy, a yo-yo, bubbles, lip balm and a doll.
