Crime Ranking Challenged by Washington University

The school disputes figures identifying the St. Louis institution as one of the most crime-rattled colleges in the U.S., the St. Louis Business Journal reported.

Washington University says a recent ranking that identifies it as the No. 16 most crime-rattled college is misleading, the St. Louis Business Journal reported.

Quoting from the Business Journal article about The Daily Beast ranking:

"Washington University officials said its ranking on The Daily Beast’s list is misleading because it combines statistics, reported by the university to the U.S. Department of Education, of both its Danforth campus and medical campus, 'which covers a large area and has many thousands of visitors each day.'"

Read more about the statistics in question and what the university says they mean in the complete Business Journal article.
