Court Records: Clayton Police Officers Exposed to HIV Positive DUI Suspect

The officers were wounded trying to subdue the DUI suspect.

Clayton police officers were left bleeding following a scuffle with a DUI suspect, and later learned the man is HIV positive, according to court records.

St. Louis County prosecutors charged David Williamson, 42, of St. Louis, on April 16 with exposing another person to HIV infection, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported on Friday.

At about 4 a.m. May 7, at Forsyth Boulevard and Jackson Avenue, a Clayton police officer responded to a report of a person slumped behind the wheel of a car. Once there, the officer ordered Williamson out but he refused, according to court documents.

The officer then used a Taser to subdue Williamson, knocking him to the ground. But Williamson refused to put his hands behind his back and again struggled with the officer. A police sergeant arrived to assist, and Williamson struggled with both officers, causing cuts to their skin as well as his own, according to the documents.
