Clayton Man Charged with Flourishing Weapon, Assaulting Officer

The man apparently flashed a toy gun at a woman on South Brentwood Boulevard, police said.

A Clayton man was Friday with unlawful use of a weapon and assault on a law enforcement officer.

In a report, police said a witness called the to say the man had flourished a handgun Thursday as they both drove on South Brentwood Boulevard near .

A short time later, police stopped a car driven by Jason Carlie, 21, of , and searched it. They found a toy pistol painted black to resemble a real handgun. Police also found a hunting knife with a 10-inch blade in the center console, according to the report.

Carlie appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the arrest and admitted he’d been drinking, the police report states. At the Clayton police station, Carlie threw his elbows and flailed his arms in an attempt to injure officers who were trying to photograph a pre-existing injury on his hand, according to the report.
