UPDATE: Jewelry Taken in La Veta Burglary

Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity, Richmond Heights police stated in an email alert.

A burglary happened Monday in the 7300 block of La Veta Avenue, an email alert from the states.

It happened at about 5 p.m. The perpetrator entered the house by breaking a small window pane in the back door and accessing the lock.

Jewelry was taken from the home, Capt. Doug Schaeffler said. He did not know the value of the items.

Police are looking into similar crimes that have happened recently in the St. Louis area and are checking in with pawn shops where the perpetrator might have brought the stolen items, Schaeffler said.

No suspect information was available as of Tuesday morning.

Residents are asked to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to police by calling 911.
