Bomb Squad on Scene of Explosion at Immacolata

No one was injured in the explosion Monday night.

Richmond Heights Police, St. Louis County Police and an investigative team from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) are on the scene at on Clayton Road. 

According to Capt. Craig Mueller from the , police received a call at 10:20 p.m. Monday about a "single gunshot or a single explosion" on the grounds of the church.

A maintenance crew discovered damage to two dumpsters in the far corner of the parking lot around 7:20 Tuesday morning.

There were no injuries reported and the Bomb and Arson Squad was called in to investigate. 

Capt. Mueller told Patch that no damage to either the church or  has been found. He said an ATF investigation could take weeks to determine what caused the explosion.

The right lane of Clayton Road, heading eastbound along the church is blocked off by police while crews remain on the scene. Traffic is being routed into the left lane.
