Theodore C. Traeger (Ted), 80, of Kirkwood, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.

Ted is survived by his loving children Sarah C. and Matthew V. Traeger, his beloved sister and brother-in-law Virginia and John P. Baird, his dear nephews John W. and Loren Traeger, dear sister-in -law Joann Wilson, and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his beloved brother William V. Traeger.

Life

Ted graduated from Evanston, Illinois High School and received his B.A. from Miami University, Miami, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army Finance Corps in Germany from 1954-56 on the G.I. Bill. He earned his J.D. from St. Louis University Law School and a subsequent LL.M. in Taxation Law from Washington University.

He was in private practice for 40 years in , MO.

Ted was a longtime member of The Ethical Society of St. Louis. He was very active in the Mid-County Y.M.C.A and was instrumental in establishing the Minier Early Childhood Education Center there. Ted became an avid cyclist and runner in his forties and came in first in the over-50 age group for the 1983 Lake St. Louis Triathlon.

Ted will be remembered for his love of music, especially jazz, and his wry sense of humor.
