What Does March Bring---Eventual Spring?

One wag said that we had our entire 2013 winter condensed into one month, February! When will March bring Spring?

Three snows in the past week and no sun for almost the same length of time---when is Spring coming?

Several t.v. weather forecasters  assured us that March 1 is the start of "meteorological Spring". Specifically, the months of March, April, and May makeup Spring because temperatures and rainfall are measured by the month.

Spring officially begins on March 20th, when night and day are approximately the same length. However, Ted Drewes Frozen Custard and Wizard's Frozen Custard (soon to have new signage) are already open and surely signs of Spring!

However, before that, on March 10, Daylight Savings Time begins as we set our clocks AHEAD one hour and also replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

For the 40% of St Louisans with Irish heritage, Spring begins with St Patrick's Day on March 17, preceded by one of the largest parades downtown on March 16 and a smaller one in Dog-town.

Gardeners are told that it is safe to plant peas on March 17.

On March 21, Spring fashions hit the runway at St Louis Galleria; go to www.stlouisfashionweek.com, for tickets and details.

On March 25, Jewish Passover begins at sunset. Other religious events include Easter on March 31. Leading up to it, many Catholic parishes have fish fries. Also before the end of the month, The Faithful will have a newly elected leader in Rome.
