Restaurant Review: Zoya's Express Cafe

This Greek eatery has two West County locations.

It seems that restaurants cluster near hospital complexes. One example is all of them in the Central West End near BJC Hospital. Another is the cluster on Ballas Road near . One standout for good food and fast service is . (There is a second location at 12855 North Highway 40 Dr, 63141).

The location at 725 N. Ballas Rd, 63141, promises "homemade Greek food" and "homemade food for busy people." Recently the blogger's daughter met him for lunch and we found that the eatery delivered on both promises.

Mrs. Zoya will frequently be found at the order register; a line of five or six young males fill your order quickly. A Mercy Hospital R.N. was there when we were, ordering "take out" for her department. She said the food was excellent and service fast.

The blogger ordered a large Greek salad with gyro meat. The lettuces were fresh and crisp, the tomatoes and cucumbers cut up into bite sized pieces. The gyro meat was warm and plentiful. Speaking of warm, Zoya's bakes their own bread and the warm piece of French bread (with butter) was divine!

The blogger's only quibble was the up-charge for extra Kalamata olives on the salad. At about $10.00 with tax (and no tip necessary as you bus your own table), it was a filling lunch.

Zoya's also serves a line of sandwiches. The baklava is imported from Chicago, but the cookies are homemade. The restaurant is open from 9:00a.m.-8:00p.m., Monday-Friday, and 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m. on Saturday.
