Active House USA is an industry innovating sustainable home being built in Webster Groves, MO by Hibbs Homes & Verdatek Solutions. The first of it’s kind in North America, Active House USA takes an innovative approach to energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and interaction with the surrounding environment.
Kristen Zivic, of Lusso in Clayton, and creator of Lusso@Home has been developing the design of this home from the outside in, with builders Kim Hibbs, Matt Belcher, architect Jeff Day, and key Active House Alliance members from Denmark since January of this year .
"I am completely thrilled and honored to be working on this unique project in St. Louis. The Smith's have been a wonderful client for several years, we're very much in sync, and are having so much fun designing a new home that perfectly suits their lifestyle and is also kind to the environment," said Kristen Zivic of Lusso. "Bringing a little bit of Lusso into each of our clients homes, via home accents, clothing or jewelry is an every day mission for the Lusso Girls. In this case with the Smith's new home I can take what's been designed in their existing residence seamlessly to the new, re-use is an important role in this project."
Active House USA officially began construction with a fun groundbreaking ceremony on May 2, 2012. The event drew a large crowd of neighbors, trade partners, and local media outlets. This October 12th will be an open house to trade professionals, then on the 13th an open house for the general public and media. At this stage we will be in mid construction (photo attached).
