“Labor Day” Author Joyce Maynard Screens Movie and Discusses Book at January Book Club

ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club welcomes Joyce Maynard, author of the book and soon-to-be motion picture, “Labor Day,” at its next book club event. The event will take place Wednesday, January 15, 7 p.m. at the Tivoli Theatre, 6350 Delmar Blvd, 63130. 

The event will include both a discussion of the book as well as a screening of the movie, starring Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin and Gattlin Griffith. It is free, but seating is limited and online registration is required.

As an 18-year-old freshman at Yale, Joyce Maynard wrote a cover story for the “New York Times,” and has been writing and reporting for a variety of newspapers and magazines since. She is the author of 15 books, including, “Labor Day,” her sixth novel, in which 13-year-old Henry tells the story of how his life changed forever when he convinces his mother to take a rare trip out of the house during the long weekend.

Fontbonne University is a Catholic coeducational institution of higher education offering liberal arts and professional programs, as well as evening and online formats for busy adults. Fontbonne was founded in 1923 and is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
