Exhibition Dates: August 23–October 20, 2013

THAT’S PAPER!?!: Presented in collaboration with the Weavers’ Guild of St. Louis, THAT’S’ PAPER!?! is an exhibition focusing on the purposeful use of paper in artwork — handmade, new, recycled, printed, or spun into fiber. The exhibition will feature works by members of the Weavers’ Guild, juried by paper sculptor Leandra Spangler, as well as works by Spangler herself and invited artists.

William Kyle Davis, Object de Jour — 365 Days/365 Objects: For an entire year, Wm. Kyle Davis drew a small still life every day. Each drawing uses the same method and materials — ink on cotton paper. The resulting series is an exploration of the objects that populate our modern world.

Sandra Griffin, Nature: The End Or A New Beginning — Choices in Black and White: Griffin’s artwork depicts our relationships to each other and to our planet. Her solo exhibition at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild will feature prints and illustrations on paper, all entirely in black and white.

Benji Rowan, Observations from Nature: Rowan creates a contemporary twist on the classical mosaic tradition by using small pieces of paper in lieu of ceramic or glass tiles. Rowan’s aim is to create a sense of narrative while straddling the line between abstraction and realism.

Elizabeth Adams-Marks, Cornwall [re]Constructed: Adams-Marks is drawn to aerial landscapes, maps, rivers, soil, and organic systems. She incorporates these images into assemblages of highly textural, hand-made plant fiber papers. Much of her current work explores the landscape and history of Cornwall, UK, especially the region’s 19th century tin mines and china clay pits.
