Week's Deals Include Free Peek at Children's Music Classes

Free music classes in Clayton, discounted groceries in the St. Louis area and a free Shakespeare performance make the list this week.

This week, Frugal Family scoured local sources to come up with great deals on children's music classes, food, wine and beer, and entertainment.

Remember to check with the merchants for additional conditions.

1. BSKI CHILDREN'S EDUCATION CENTER — KINDERMUSIK FREE VISITING DAYS
Deals:

  • Families with babies and children through age 3 who are new to Kindermusik may sample music classes that feature percussion instruments, singing, dancing and musical story time at Children's Education Center in Clayton. Visiting Days are also available at Des Peres Lodge and at the JCC in Chesterfield.
  • Kindermusik Academy is offering scholarships for summer camp classes in  Richmond Heights and Chesterfield to families in which one partner has lost a full-time job. For more information about scholarships, apply online or call 314-434-9496.

Good through: Visting classes are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. Classes are approximately 45 minutes long. Reservations are required. Please check the website for a full schedule of free visiting days and directions. There is no expiration date noted for scholarships.

2. ALDI
Deal: Get a 12-ounce bag of salad this week for $.39, a 10-ounce package of grape tomatoes for $.99, a 13-ounce package of peppers for $.99, cucumbers for $.29 each and mushrooms for $.79 per package. Planning ahead for Memorial Day? Stop by Aldi to get a pound of jumbo franks for $1.19. (Buns are $.79.) You'll also find a variety of special buys on camping and fishing supplies.
Good through: Saturday

Deal: Receive 20 percent off of already discounted prices on wine, beer, cheese, packaged food and accessories. While supplies last, wines from Silver Oak, Cakebread, Ramey, Newton, Chateau Montelena and other companies are on sale.  Beers in stock are Stone, Bell's, Schlafly, Boulevard and Mikkeller. This sale excludes hard liquor, liqueurs and prepared food, and all sales are final.
Good through
: Provisions on Olive Boulevard will be open until Friday. The Wine and Cheese Place will open a new store June 1 on New Ballas Road.

4. Westport Plaza Events
Deal:

  • Free outdoor jazz and blues concert by Acoustik Element from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Westport Plaza Village.
  • Free street performances around the Plaza by Joe the Juggler from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Westport Plaza Village.
  • Free outdoor jazz and blues concert by the Dawn Weber Duo from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Good through: See above acts and scheduled dates.

5. ROMEO AND JULIET: A STONE SOUP SHAKESPEARE PRODUCTION
Deal: Stone Soup Shakespeare performs Romeo and Juliet at Tower Grover Park for free at the Sons of Rest Shelter. Stop by in Creve Coeur and pick up goodies for a picnic.
Good through: Performance begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
