Sunday Winds Cause Power Outages in Richmond Heights

More than 750 Ameren customers were without power for a portion of the evening.

High winds left more than 750 Ameren customers in Richmond Heights without power for part of Sunday, a company representative said.

The outage affected 769 customers starting at 4:05 p.m., managing supervisor of communications Trina Muniz said.

Power had been restored to all customers by 8:55 p.m., though it had returned to all but about 50 before that time, she said.

, 1059 S. Big Bend Blvd., reported on its Twitter feed that it was among the customers affected by the outage.

"Mother Nature strikes again!" the 4:50 p.m. post stated. "Power is out in the whole neighborhood including Harvest! We are sorry for any cancellations. Pray for Power!"

A message seeking comment on the outage was not immediately returned. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

No calls about outages had been received by the , a person who answered the office's phone said Monday.

It isn't the first time this year that powerful wind gusts have caused damage in the city. On Feb. 28, along Big Bend Boulevard, resulting in outages for hundreds.
