Ribbet Royalty Storytime at Missouri History Museum, Slumber Party at The Magic House and More

Here are five kid-friendly events coming up this weekend near Clayton and Richmond Heights.

Here’s information about storytimes, a mother-daughter slumber party, a concert and a celebration of Black History Month—pick and choose from this weekend’s array of events.

  • RIBBET ROYALTY STORYTIME
    When/Where: 10:30 a.m. Friday or 1 p.m. Saturday at the Missouri History Museum
    Why Go: Museum staffers invite kids to add some storytime fun to The Missouri History Museum’s Family Film Day screening of Disney's The Princess and the Frog. Saturday Storytelling Workshops are part of the fun, offering kids the chance to play with puppets, make crafts, build a puzzle or escape to the rainbow retreat to read stories on their own. The workshop takes place from noon to 2:30 p.m.

  • MOSES AND THE RED SEA AND OTHER STORIES STORYTIME
    When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the St. Louis County Library's headquarters in Ladue.
    Why Go: Members of The Black Rep visit library headquarters to present Moses and the Red Sea and Other Stories, a modern adaptation of favorite Bible stories that includes singing, dancing, and audience participation. Familiar stories such as Noah's Ark, Jesus Feeding the Multitudes, and Jonah and the Whale are brought to life for all ages. Refreshments from local restaurants will be part of the fun.

  • BLACK HISTORY HERITAGE MONTH
    When/Where:
    All day Saturday at the Gateway Arch
    Why Go:
    Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum of Westward Expansion with kid-friendly historical character portrayals, storytellers, concerts, special films, Dred Scott trial reenactments with visitor participants, Underground Railroad programs and more.
    Pricing:
    Free with admission to the Museum of Westward Expansion
  • SLUMBER PARTY
    When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday at The Magic House in Kirkwood
    Why Go: Moms and daughters are invited to put on their best pajamas and join The Magic House for a spa-tacular slumber party. Spend the night at the museum, eat pizza, pamper yourselves with relaxing spa activities, explore the museum after dark, sleep "under the exhibits," and enjoy breakfast in the morning. Space is limited and reservations are required. Payment is nonrefundable.

  • ALEX AND THE KALEIDOSCOPE BAND IN CONCERT
    When/Where: 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Off Broadway
    Why Go: The Musical Merry-Go-Round series welcomes Alex and the Kaleidoscope Band, which performs lively, interactive and world-music infused tunes to the delight of young children.
