Police Investigate Three Center of Clayton Locker Break-ins

The incidents at the recreation center apparently happened late Tuesday, said Capt. Kevin Murphy of the Clayton Police Department.

Clayton police are investigating three locker break-ins at , an official with the department said Thursday.

"We are following some leads in the investigation," Capt. Kevin Murphy of the said. All three likely happened late Tuesday afternoon or early Tuesday evening. They all occurred in the men's locker room, Murphy said, and it appears that only cash was taken from each.

All of the lockers appear to have been locked at the time of the break-ins. Two of the reports came in Tuesday and one came in Wednesday, though the incidents all likely occurred within the same time frame, Murphy said.

It appears that only one person is responsible, though a suspect has not been identified, Murphy said. Security footage is being examined as part of the investigation. It was not immediately clear who contacted police about the break-ins.

Murphy recommended that Center patrons exercise discretion when using lockers.

"You want to make sure that whatever possessions you have are secured," Murphy said. "Take extra precautions not to be obvious about personal possessions that you have."

People should avoid being flashy about the things they're storing and avoid talking with others about them. They should also report suspicious activity to the front desk.
