Hundreds Still Without Power in St. Louis After Storm

Meanwhile, other media reported that Big Bend Boulevard in Richmond Heights reopened to traffic early Tuesday.

Less than 10 percent of St. Louis residents living in the 63117 ZIP code—which includes Richmond Heights—were without power as of 7 a.m. Tuesday following a powerful weekend storm, Ameren Missouri reported on its Web site.

That works out to fewer than 570 customers still without electricity in that part of the city.

Meanwhile, KSDK reported that Big Bend Boulevard reopened Tuesday shortly after 5:30 a.m. The corridor between Wise Avenue and Clayton Road sustained the brunt of the damage in the city, .

Richmond Heights police could not immediately be reached for comment on the reopening.

The damage along Big Bend appears to have been caused by straight-line winds, the National Weather Service stated on its Web site.

The powerful wind in Wildwood and flatted a barn in Franklin County.

"All of the damage patterns indicated straight-line, west-to-east winds typical of embedded strong microbursts within a squall line," the Weather Service stated. "There were no indications of rotation. However, the degree of damage indicated wind speeds which likely approached 100 mph in those very localized microbursts."
