Father's Day Means Dad's a VIP

Put on the Ritz and rev your engines for great ways to celebrate fathers in and around Clayton and Richmond Heights.

There are many great ways to celebrate Dad this year. Clayton-Richmond Heights Patch has these five suggestions:

When/Where: Tonight (Thursday) at. Runs from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: There will be samples of healthy BBQ foods, grilling tips, and chances to win prizes. Doctors from St. Luke's Hospital will be on hand to answer questions about nutrition and health.

Cost: $25 for couples. $15 for single tickets. Call 314-542-4848 to pre-register.

Garden Benefit Dance

When/Where: Friday, June 17, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Why Go: This is the garden's time to shine! Dad and his favorite dance partner can dress in in their summer whites and kick up their heels to live music, from disco to jazz. There is a buffet and cash bar.

Cost: $60 for members and &70 for non-members. Call to pre-register: (314) 577-5154. Buffet, drink ticket and gratuity included in ticket price.

When/Where: Saturday, June 18 at the Museum of Transportation. The opening ceremony is at noon, but registration opens at 8:00 a.m. 

Why Go: Dads and their loved ones will have the chance to check out this all-Ford car show and support The Backstoppers in memory of Sgt. Mike King of the University City Police Department.

Cost: Free. $20 to enter a car in the show

When/Where: Saturday at 8:00 p.m., at the Washington University South Campus Theatre.

Why Go: You'll laugh! You'll cry! Well, at least you won't be bored. This play has it all: religion, sexuality, guilt and jealousy.

Cost: $10 to $20

Father's Day Brunch

When/Where: Sunday, June 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. .

Why Go: A roast pig courtesy of the Ritz-Carlton chefs, Cajun-style crawfish, and beer samples in a free Schlafly mug. That's in addition to a sumptuous buffet and the delectable deserts.

Cost: $75 per person. The price is $37.50 for children three to 10 years old. Kids two and under free.
