Dozens Powerless in Richmond Heights and Clayton Area

Ameren Missouri reported more than 100 people without power in the 63117 ZIP code and nearly 80 without power in the 63105 ZIP code.

Thousands of Ameren Missouri customers are without power this morning after a strong storm that produced heavy rain and lightning. The power company's website indicates nearly 18,800 customers in St. Louis County were without power as of 8:30 a.m. Monday.

But only a small portion of those customers without power were in Clayton or Richmond Heights. A total of 127 customers in the 63117 ZIP code that includes Richmond Heights—or about 2 percent of customers in that area—were without power as of 8:20 a.m., an Ameren online map states. A total of 79 customers in the 63105 ZIP code that includes Clayton were without power. The number represents about 1 percent of customers in that area.

St. Charles County appears to have avoided a mass power outage. The county had 414 Ameren Missouri customers without power Monday morning.

Storms are likely into Monday night, the National Weather Service reported. Strong winds, heavy rain and hail are possible. There also is the chance of isolated tornadoes in the St. Louis metro area.
