Local Voices: Join Clayton's Green Power Community Challenge

We need YOUR help to keep Clayton FIRST in Missouri Green Power Communities!

As the Team Leader for the Clayton Green Power Community Challenge, I’m starting to get nervous.

We have less than two months left to reach the goal and still need the equivalent of about 200 families to support the Challenge—it’s time to make a difference, it’s time to take action, the Challenge effort needs YOU!

As background, you need to know that we already did this once.  In April of 2010, the Clayton Board of Aldermen passed a resolution to embark on the challenge of becoming the first Green Power Community in Missouri.  In April of 2011, we celebrated exceeding that milestone with over 2 percent of the power used in the City coming from green sources.

Clayton came, Clayton supported green power and Clayton celebrated! (See Patch )

The reason I’m nervous is that in January of 2011, the EPA upped the ante and Clayton is now required to reach 3% of the power used in the City coming from green sources by the end of 2011. So, we have been working since then to reach the goal. As I write this, we are down to the final two months, still a little short of the goal and quite simply, the Challenge effort needs your support NOW to help reach the goal.

There are two ways you can support green power and help reach the Challenge goal. The first is to install solar on your home or business. The second is to enroll in a voluntary green power program, like Ameren Missouri Pure Power, to guarantee the delivery of more green power to our local grid.

Won’t you please help? Here’s how:

Start supporting the Clayton Challenge TODAY!

Enrolling in Pure Power takes only minutes but benefits Missouri forever.  You can enroll by sending your name, Ameren Missouri billing address and phone number to me.  I’ll sign you up for the new Pure Power “Half-Block,” which allows you to support green power in Missouri for the price of a matinee movie—$7.50 per month.

To thank you for your support, any Clayton resident that enrolls online or over the phone between now and December 31st will receive a free, anytime Movie Ticket in the mail.

If you are interested in onsite solar, can conduct a free feasibility and cost estimate. Contact Rick Hunter at rhunter@microgridenergy.com, 314.265.6143.

Already a Green Power Supporter? Refer a Friend!

Spread the Challenge message by encouraging friends and family to sign up for Pure Power during the Clayton Green Power Challenge. Just email your referral’s name and email or daytime phone to me and the GPC team will make the call.  If your friend enrolls, we’ll send you a second free movie pass so you can enjoy a movie together!

Resolve to do your part to support Clayton, local green power and Missouri in 2011 –

Together we really can make a difference!!!

Thanks, Cindy
