First 2 Weeks Z Pizza Doubles the Sales of the Store Its Owner Trained In

The general manager said it's been busy from the start, and without advertising.

In its first two weeks, Z Pizza did double the business of the Z Pizza in Valencia, CA, that the Clayton owner and general manager trained in.

General manager Scott Newhouse said he's surprised because they haven't advertised at all.

"We expected to be busy, but not immediately right off the bat," Newhouse said. "We hoped to grow steadily to give everyone a chance to learn their positions, but it was like, 'Everybody in the fire – go.'"

The restaurant is in the previous Tip Top Cleaners spot at the intersection of Westwood Drive and Wydown Boulevard.

Newhouse said they hope to have a liquor license in about a week, to offer bottled beer and wine.

He said the patio has been busy when it's been nice out, and it's been filled by folks from nearby. He also said the delivery service has been picking up. Very soon those deliveries will be made by electric bikes with LED running lights.

"Lunchtime has been slow and I think part of the reason is we really haven’t cultivated downtown Clayton," Newhouse said. He said they plan to flier Clayton businesses soon.

"As busy as we are with no advertising, once we do that, I have no clue what it’s going to be like," he said.

Reviews on Yelp have been mixed:

Went back in and tried the Provence slice - garlic sauce, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, capers, tomatoes, and fresh basil. Need I say more? YUM!!

2 slices of the day for $6.95 as a special? Gourmet pizza price but not gourmet pizza taste.

Have you tried Z Pizza yet? What do you say?
