What Well-Known St. Louis Artist is Shown in a Clayton Fine Art Shop?

She studied at Washington University, the National Academy of Design and in Paris.

Philip Tomsich, owner of Tomsich Fine Art & Framing, in Clayton, has a painting by St. Louis artist Valentine Vogel.

Tomsich said it was painted in the 1940s, though it's not dated. It's listed at $2,250.

"It's a nice summer landscape with a nice bright leaves and sun coming through," he said. "It's the rolling hills that you see down in the central part of Missouri in the Ozarks."

Tomsich said Vogel studied at Washington University, at the National Academy of Design, in Paris and the Academy of Rome.

She was a member of the St. Louis Society of Independent Artists, League of American Women Artists, St. Louis Women's Advertising Club and the St. Louis Artists League.
