Larry Conners Offered Job, Claims KMOV Is Blocking With Non-Compete Clause

The former KMOV anchor and Clayton resident was fired in May.

Former television anchor and Clayton resident Larry Conners is telling the world that he has been offered a new job in broadcasting but his former employer won't let him take it.

According to a post on Conners' Facebook page, the offer would keep him in the St. Louis market.

Quoting from the post:

"I can’t give details at this time, but KMOV News Director Sean McLaughlin recently insisted that Channel 4 still considers that I am under a binding non-compete.
KMOV’s stance is “chilling” to any other St. Louis broadcast operation interested in hiring me.
KMOV/Belo terminated me, and yet still wants to prevent me from working in my chosen profession in St. Louis for one year. My attorney, Merle Silverstein, is filing to stop KMOV from enforcing the non-compete so I can return to St. Louis airwaves."

By 1:45 p.m. Monday, 1,082 people had 'liked' Conners status update.

As first reported by the Riverfront Times Monday, the Facebook post appeared Sunday night on Conners page. To read the full RFT post, click here

Conners was fired from KMOV-Channel 4 in May. The situation arose May 13 with a post from Conners on his Facebook page. In the posting, Conners said he faced pressure from the IRS after an interview with President Barack Obama. This after allegations surfaced that the IRS targeted conservative groups.
