Kathleen McElligott of Emerson Named Fontbonne Trustee

The announcement happened Friday.

Clayton-based has named Vice President Kathleen McElligott of Emerson Electric Co. to its board of trustees, the school announced Friday.

The following is the school's announcement about the appointment:

Kathleen McElligott, vice president and chief information officer of Emerson, has been appointed to the Fontbonne University board of trustees. 

“Emerson has been an absolutely extraordinary corporate friend of Fontbonne, most generously providing many forms of support to our campus and our students,” said , Fontbonne president. 

McElligott spent 22 years with General Electric before joining St. Louis-based Emerson in 2000. Emerson is a global company that provides technology and engineering solutions for clients in industrial, commercial and consumer markets.

After joining the company as vice president of information technology for its power transmission business, she was promoted in 2003 to vice president of information technology for Emerson Industrial Automation, and then stepped into her current role in February 2010.

McElligott holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Kent State University and a master’s degree in business management from Xavier University

“Fontbonne University has a tremendous record of achievement, and as a member of the board of trustees, I look forward to working with the university to grow its role in educating and developing future business and community leaders,” said McElligott.

Recognized recently by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the city’s “Most Influential Business Women,” McElligott is also involved in the local community. She is a member of the St. Louis CIO Board, as well as the board of Connections to Success.
