Are You An Olive Oil Virgin? Expert Advice at Clayton Store

The specialty shop is located at 8829 Ladue Road in Colonial Marketplace.

How do you like your olive oil? Light? Rich? Flavored or plain? At Extra Virgin, an Olive Ovation, patrons can taste a large assortment of products—from traditional and artisanal olive oils to vinegars and speciality foods.

Extra Virgin moved from Carondelet Plaza in Clayton to Colonial Marketplace July 1. The shopping center sits in Ladue and Clayton, along Ladue Road.

Owner Marianne Prey told Patch that olive oils, like fine wines, taste different to each palate.

"Every customer that comes in tastes the oil," she said. "It's a personal taste—we try to find the right oil for each person."

Prey said the move increased the size of the five and a half year old business by about 30 percent.

"It's a prime location," she said. "We added about half a dozen new products, some new vinegars and pumpkin seed oil."

Extra Virgin is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
