Hotels Busy This Summer Ahead of Clayton Swim Meet

Shaw Park will host the annual CSP Invitational Swim Meet this weekend.

Adam Plous doesn't know whether this weekend's swim meet has had an economic affect on his hotel.

But one thing is for sure: He's extremely busy.

"We are super slammed and sold out" most weekends from mid-May through early August, said Plous, general manager at the in .

That's true of summers, and it's especially true this week because of a National Baptist Convention USA conference happening in St. Louis, he said.

For years, has hosted the CSP Invitational Swim Meet. The meet runs from June 22-24 this year, and it's one of many events bringing people to the St. Louis area this summer.

A group of rooms has been set aside for the meet at the , a message on the CSP Tideriders website states.

Greg Zes said it's possible some of the swim-meet attendees have reserved rooms this weekend. As one of the owners of the in Clayton—and someone who used to organize soccer tournaments— he's well aware of the economic affect that sporting meets and events such as the Baptist convention can have on hotels.

In the past, Olympic diving pre-trials at Shaw Park have brought people to the Crowne Plaza, he said.
